Commercial asbestos work carries a different weight than residential. A missed material on a demolition project means a stopped job, a regulatory problem, and a schedule you can’t recover. Documentation has to survive review by regulators, insurers, and attorneys.
We handle full commercial surveys including large-scale NESHAP projects, with the licensure to work from southern Virginia through northern Georgia and Alabama, west to Nashville, and across the entire Knoxville metro. While we don’t specialize in AHERA inspections for school systems, we’re accredited and licensed to perform them.

What is a NESHAP survey and when is it required?
NESHAP is the federal standard governing asbestos in demolition and renovation. In practice, a thorough asbestos survey is required before most commercial demolition and many renovation projects, regardless of the building’s age. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and project scope — tell us what you’re planning and we’ll walk through what applies.
How far do you travel for commercial work?
We’re licensed and accredited in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Virginia, and regularly work from southern Virginia through northern Georgia and Alabama, west to Nashville, and throughout the Knoxville metro. For larger projects, distance is rarely the limiting factor.
Can you work around an occupied building?
Yes. Much of our commercial work happens in buildings that stay in operation. We coordinate scheduling, access, and containment of the sampling area so business continues while we work.
Do you handle the abatement too?
No, and that’s intentional. BAT Services is an inspection company only. On commercial projects especially, the independence matters — our survey isn’t a sales document for a removal contract. We’ll refer you to licensed abatement contractors we work with and help you evaluate whether a proposed scope matches what we actually found.
